ABILENE, TX – The Wildcats (17-13, 2-6 WAC) were defeated by the Sacramento State Hornets (17-13, 5-3 WAC) where Sac State came with powerful offense. The final score was 13-4, with the Hornets outhitting the Wildcats 14-6.
Sac State set an early tone, homering twice in the first inning and adding three more runs in the second to take a commanding 5-0 lead. ACU struggled to contain the Hornets' offense throughout the game.
Offensively, the Wildcats had a slow start but managed to score their first run in the bottom of the second. Jack Nielsen hit a single to left field, driving in Sam Hardcastle and putting ACU on the board. In the bottom of the third, Nick Arias was able to put it in the field to score Braden Regala. Louis Bussard with his only hit of the game was able to drive in an RBI. Despite these efforts, the Wildcats couldn't keep pace with the Hornets.
Regala went 2-4 with an RBI and his first home run of the season. Grant Watkins contributed with two hits and Nielson went 2-3.
The final game of the series is set for 12:05 p.m. CT on Sunday.
