ACU Unable to Keep Up with Sacramento State

ABILENE, TX – The Wildcats (17-14, 2-7 WAC) faced a tough challenge against Sacramento State (17-13, 6-3 WAC) at Bullock Brothers Ballpark on April 6, 2025, ultimately falling to the Hornets with a final score of 14-4.

The Hornets' offense proved a significant hurdle for ACU, as the Hornets tallied 14 runs on 16 hits throughout the game. ACU's pitching staff struggled to contain Sacramento State, with multiple pitchers taking the mound. Cade McGarrh was charged with the loss.

Despite the strong offensive showing by Sacramento State, ACU had some bright spots.

Louis Bussard had a productive day at the plate, going 1-for-3 and scoring a run. Sam Hardcastle also contributed offensively for the Wildcats, hitting a home run and recording one RBI. Other offensive highlights for ACU included a double by Jack Nielsen

The Wildcats will not have a midweek and will next host Utah Tech for a three-game series at Bullock Brothers Ballpark. The first pitch will be on Friday at 6:05 p.m. CT. On Saturday, April 12, the grand opening of the new stadium will be taking place. Make sure to secure your tickets for the series and the ceremony at tickets.acusports.com.
