Wildcats Sweep Trailblazers at Home

ABILENE – The Wildcats delivered a commanding 11-5 victory over Utah Tech University today at Bullock Brothers Ballpark, culminating in a three-game series sweep. This series win marks ACU's first conference series victory and sweep of the season in conference play.  

The Wildcats demonstrated their prowess early in the game, establishing a strong lead in the first inning by scoring four runs. Grant Watkins ignited the offense with a decisive home run, driving in two runs and setting a tone of dominance for ACU. The team sustained their offensive momentum throughout the game, with consistent contributions from key players.  

Cade McGarrh took the mound for ACU and earned the win, pitching effectively for 6.2 innings. Caden Greanead closed out the game, securing the save for the Wildcats.  

Offensively, ACU's performance was highlighted by several standout players. Watkins showcased his power with a home run and three RBIs. Reese Borho came into the game later, lighting up a home run in the seventh with two RBIs. Sam Hardcastle and Braden Regala both went two-for-four with Hardcastle also adding two RBIs. 

The Wildcats' well-rounded performance included strong offensive plays and solid defense, which proved to be a winning combination against Utah Tech. While Utah Tech managed to score 5 runs on 10 hits, ACU's 11 runs on 9 hits secured their victory.  

With this decisive win, Abilene Christian University advances its season record to 20-14 overall and 5-7 in the Western Athletic Conference. Utah Tech now holds a record of 15-19 overall and 1-8 in the WAC. 

ACU has a quick turnaround this weekend. It hosts Incarnate Word on Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. The game will be the Wildcats' last home game for a week. They will head to Arlington on Thursday to take on UT Arlington right before Easter Sunday.
