Wildcats Outslug Wolverines Taking Game Two 18-14

OREM, UTAH – The Abilene Christian Wildcats, now 17-10 overall (2-3 WAC), secured a hard-fought road victory against the Utah Valley Wolverines, now overall 17-10 (3-2 WAC), in an offensive showdown at UCCU Ballpark. The final score read 18-14 in favor of the Wildcats, in a game that showcased explosive hitting from both sides.

The Wildcats overcame an early deficit to secure the win. Utah Valley jumped out to an early lead, putting up 4 runs in the first inning. However, Abilene Christian's offense proved relentless, racking 18 runs on 20 hits throughout the game.  

Grant Watkins was a standout performer for Abilene Christian, delivering a phenomenal 5-for-5 performance at the plate, scoring four runs and driving in an impressive 6 RBIs. Holden Rook also had a spectacular day offensively, going a perfect 6-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Braden Regala contributed significantly to the Wildcats' offensive firepower, going 5-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Louis Bussard added a triple for the Wildcats.  

Utah Valley's offense was also hot, with the Wolverines scoring 14 runs on 13 hits. Luke Iverson led the charge for the Wolverines, going 5-for-5 with three runs and 4 RBIs, including a home run. Jayden Smith also had a strong offensive showing, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and one RBI.  

The game was a true contest between the two offenses, with both teams displaying aggressive hitting and making the most of their opportunities on the basepaths. Abilene Christian stole 4 bases, showcasing their speed and aggressiveness, while Utah Valley stole one base.  

On the mound, Brady Coe earned the win for Abilene Christian, while Ray Hernandez was charged with the loss for Utah Valley.

With the series tied, Sunday's game will be the series tie-breaker to see if the Wildcats can solidify their first series win in conference. ESPN+ will still be available, as well as live stats. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. CT.
