HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Abilene Christian women's golf slotted into 10th place after the first day of action at the University of Oklahoma Intercollegiate presented by PDI at Prairie Dunes Country Club on Monday.
After inclement weather delayed play for nearly five hours on the tournament's first day, the event was shortened from 54 holes to 36 to remain a countable contest. Teams will wrap up the first round at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday before moving into the second and final round.
The Wildcats carded a 30-over 306 through much of the opening round, paced by Ryann Honea in a tie for ninth place at 2-over 72. ACU was one hole shy of completing the round, with Marissa Loya facing her final hole on No. 14 when play resumes on Tuesday. The Wildcats are three strokes back of ninth-place Nebraska, with Florida leading the field at 7-over 287.
Honea, aiming for her fourth consecutive top-15 performance to open the season, recorded three birdies and tied to lead the field on par-5 holes at 2-under. Her trio of birdies tied for seventh.
Maddi Kamas tied for 43rd place at 8-over 78, while Julia Vollmer and Loya each drew for 56th place. Vollmer logged a 10-over 80 and tied for the lead with five birdies while drawing for fourth on par 3s at 1-under. Kamas tied for seventh on par 5s at 1-under.
