Wildcats To Compete at Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas

LIVE RESULTS

DALLAS - Abilene Christian men's golf continues its fall slate at the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club from Sunday through Tuesday. The Wildcats are competing at the event for the seventh time in eight seasons.

Teams will play one round each day at the par-72, 7,617-yard course, which was ranked ninth in the state of Texas by Golf Digest this year. Action begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday and Monday and at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

ACU joins a 15-team field featuring four power conference programs in SMU, Baylor, Houston and USC. Fellow Texas teams North Texas, UTSA, Rice, UT Rio Grande Valley and Sam Houston are also in the mix. Furman, Louisiana, East Tennessee State, South Alabama and Cal Poly round out the field.

SMU, Houston, USC, Sam Houston, UT Rio Grande Valley, Furman and East Tennessee State each competed in an NCAA Regional last season.

The Wildcats will trot out a lineup of Grégoire Hoyeau, Thomas Buisson, Jack Hollingsed, Colin Leonard and Tres Hill, with Preston Cooper competing as an individual. Hollingsed and Cooper are both Dallas natives.

ACU placed 11th at the Trinity Forest Invitational last season as Leonard tied for 40th place as an individual at 1-over 217. Cooper tied for 52nd, while Hollingsed drew for 66th place. Buisson tied for 79th at the tournament as a freshman in 2022.

In their last time out, the Wildcats tied for fifth amongst 15 teams at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Houston on Sept. 29-30. They recorded their third-best performance in nine trips to the tournament as each golfer in the lineup bettered their placement from the season-opening JT Poston Invitational.

Buisson tied his career-best placement and score as he drew for 16th at even-par 216. He shot under par in his final two rounds. Buisson has led ACU in its first two tournaments of the season after tying for 22nd in Waynesville, N.C.

Hollingsed followed in a tie for 36th place in Houston at 6-over 222 as Tres Hill tied for 41st place at 7-over 223. Leonard surged in the final two rounds to finish in 46th place, shooting 1-under 143 in the final two rounds. Hoyeau wrapped up the lineup in a draw for 47th place.
