ABILENE – Abilene Christian rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game
but Seattle came away with a 7-5 win in 11 innings on Thursday.
The Wildcats built a 3-0 lead by the third inning when
Reese Borho drew a first-inning bases-loaded walk
and Aaron Staehely doubled in a pair of runs in the third.
The Redhawks scored five runs over the next six innings to take a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth.
The Cats tied the game on a sacrifice fly by
Gino D'Alessio and an RBI fielder's choice by
Garrett Williams in the ACU ninth.
Sam Kane had a two-run double in the top of the 11th for SU.
The Wildcats racked up six hits, led by
Benjamin Greer with three. Staehely added two
and Maddox Miesse had one.
Brett Garcia took the loss for ACU.
The second game of the three-game set starts at 6:05 p.m. on Friday.
