PHOENIX –
Miller Ladusau broke Abilene Christian's career doubles record when he led off the game with his 57th double as a Wildcat in a 10-4 loss at Grand Canyon on Friday.
Ladusau would score on a double steal for ACU's only lead, 1-0.
The Cats added their other three runs in the top of the ninth.
Reese Borho was hit by a pitch Ladusau drew a bases-loaded walk to force in two runs
and
Gino D'Alessio added an RBI single for the final margin.
The loss dropped the Wildcats into a tie for third in the WAC standings at 15-10, along with California Baptist and Tarleton State.
ACU had five hits in the game, led by
Ranse Radtke with two. Ladusau, D'Alessio and
Maddox Miesse had one apiece.
Austin Glaze was charged with the loss.
The teams meet for the second game of the series at 9 p.m., Central, on Saturday.
