NACOGDOCHES – Abilene Christian evened its series with Stephen F. Austin with a 12-4 win on Saturday.
The Wildcats posted 14 hits, led by
Gino D'Alessio and
Maddox Miesse with three singles,
Zandt Payne with two doubles and a single and
Miller Ladusau with two doubles.
Benjamin Greer and
Holden Rook each added a double and
Ranse Radtke had a single.
ACU took the lead in the first inning on a two-run double by Payne and went ahead 3-0 in the third with an RBI single by Miesse.
SFA took a 4-3 lead in the fourth, but ACU scored five runs in the fifth on a two-run single by D'Alessio a two-run error and an RBI for Ladusau, who was hit by a pitch with the bases full.
Ladusau added an RBI double in the eighth.
ACU scored three in the ninth inning on a two-run double by Payne and a two-run double by Rook.
Brett Palmer pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief to get the win. He fanned three batters.
The teams meet with the series on the line at noon on Sunday.
