NACOGDOCHES – Abilene Christian won its fifth consecutive Western Athletic Conference series with an 11-3 win at Stephen F. Austin on Sunday.
After falling behind 2-0, ACU got on the board with a third-inning home run by
Benjamin Greer. Greer added an RBI fielders choice to tie it and
Miller Ladusau pushed the Wildcats ahead 2-1 when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The Wildcats added four runs in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by
DJ Van Atten, an RBI ground out by
Bobby Serfass and a two-run double by Greer.
Van Atten homered with a runner aboard to make it 9-3 in the sixth. ACU went ahead 11-3 in the seventh when Ladusau came through with an RBI double and
Gino D'Alessio added an RBI single.
The Wildcats had 10 hits in the game, led by Greer with three and
Ranse Radtke with two. Ladusau, D'Alessio,
Zandt Payne and
Holden Rook had one hit each.
Brett Lanman picked up the pitching win, with six strikeouts over five innings.
Caden Greanead,
Dash Albus, and
Parker Matthews each threw a scoreless inning of relief and
Chandler Freeman and
Chandler Benson combined for a shutout ninth inning. Matthews had three strikeouts.
ACU launches a nine-game homestand on Tuesday when Texas Tech visits for a 6:05 p.m. game.
