ABILENE – Abilene Christian picked up a storm-shortened non-conference win over Tarleton State, 7-0, on Tuesday.
A heavy thunderstorm ended the game in the bottom of the fifth.
The Wildcats scored all seven runs in the second inning.
DJ Van Atten got things rolling with a two-run home run and
Reese Borho bunted in a run for a 3-0 lead.
Benjamin Greer scored on a double-steal attempt.
Miller Ladusau singled in a run and
Zandt Payne scored on a passed ball for a 6-0 lead.
Gino D'Alessio added his conference-leading seventh sacrifice fly of the season for the final margin.
Cade McGarrh and
Rolando De La Cruz (1-2) combined for the two-hit shutout. De La Cruz allowed the hits and struck out three in four innings of relief.
ACU finished with seven hits, led by Ladusau with two. Payne,
Maddox Miesse, Van Atten, Greer and Borho had one each.
The Cats hit the road this weekend for a three-game series at Utah Tech, beginning at 7:05 p.m. (Central) on Friday.
