ABILENE – Abilene Christian dropped a pair of games to California Baptist on Friday, falling 16-5 and 12-4.
The Wildcats trailed 4-0 before getting on the scoreboard in the fourth inning on an RBI single by
DJ Van Atten.
Gino D'Alessio had a sixth-inning sacrifice fly to pull ACU to within 7-2.
The Cats added three in the seventh on RBI singles by
Holden Rook,
Benjamin Greer and Miller Ladusau.
ACU had eight hits, led by Ladusau with two. Greer,
Maddox Miesse, Van Atten,
Garrett Williams,
Reese Borho and Rook had one hit each.
Austin Glaze (3-3) took the loss.
Chandler Freeman pitched 1.2 scoreless innings and
Nolan Foster retired the one batter he faced in relief.
Van Atten produced a sacrifice fly to get ACU on the board in the fourth inning of the second game. The Cats scored three times in the fifth on RBI singles by Ladusau and Miesse, as well as a passed ball that allowed Ladusau to score.
D'Alessio had three of ACU's nine hits. Miesse had two hits and Ladusau,
Ranse Radtke, Borho
and Rook had one apiece.
Iain Campa (5-2) took his first WAC loss.
The teams finish off the three-game series with a 10 a.m. contest on Sunday.
