ABILENE – What was a pitcher's duel for four innings turned into a rout as Abilene Christian scored four runs in the fifth and sixth in the seventh for a 10-0 win over UC Davis on Friday.
Austin Glaze went the distance on the mound for ACU with seven strikeouts in seven scoreless innings. He scattered five singles and finished the game on 92 pitches.
After
Gino D'Alessio was intentionally walked to load the bases with one out in the fifth,
Maddox Miesse launched a grand slam to left field to break the scoreless tie.
The Cats finished things off with six in the seventh inning on a pair of run-scoring errors, a sacrifice fly by
Garrett Williams, a two-run single by
Miller Ladusau and a game-ending sacrifice fly by D'Alessio.
ACU had 11 hits, led by Ladusau with three, including a double.
Holden Rook had two hits and
Benjamin Greer, D'Alessio,
DJ Van Atten,
Zandt Payne and
Ranse Radtke each added a single to go with Miesse's homer.
The teams meet for a 3:05 p.m. contest on Saturday.
