STEPHENVILLE –
Iain Campa and
Brett Garcia combined on a five-hit shutout on Saturday and evened the series at Tarleton State with a 4-0 win.
Campa struck out five and allowed five singles through 5.2 innings before Garcia finished things off with 2.1 hitless, shutout innings with three strikeouts. Garcia earned the save and Campa improved to 3-1.
ACU got the only run it needed when
Maddox Miesse doubled down the left-field line to drive in
Caden Matlon and break up a scoreless tie in the fifth inning.
ACU pushed three more runs across in the sixth on an RBI double by
Gino D'Alessio, a bases-loaded walk issued to
Ranse Radtke and a wild pitch that brought in D'Alessio.
The Wildcats had nine hits in the game with Miesse,
Garrett Williams and
Miller Ladusau getting two each. Matlon added a double and
Zandt Payne contributed a single.
The teams meet for the decisive third game at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
