STEPHENVILLE – Abilene Christian claimed its first WAC road series with a 7-3 win at Tarleton State on Sunday.
ACU took the series, 2-1, after losing the opener on Friday.
Tarleton State broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the fourth but the Wildcats responded on their next trip to the plate.
Maddox Miesse and
Garrett Williams produced RBI singles to tie the game ahead of a three-run double down the right-field line by
Gino D'Alessio for a 5-2 lead.
ACU tacked on two more in the seventh when
Miller Ladusau connected for a two-run home run to left.
The Wildcats came up with 10 hits in the game, led by D'Alessio and
Caden Matlon with two each.
DJ Van Atten,
Zandt Payne, and
Aaron Staehely also had hits in the game.
Brett Lanman went five innings, allowing two runs and striking out five to pick up the win.
Cade McGarrh fanned three in his two scoreless innings to close things out.
The 10-7 Wildcats visit UTSA at 4 p.m. on Tuesday before starting their first home WAC series at 6:05 p.m. on Friday against Texas-Arlington.
