SAN ANTONIO – Abilene Christian made the most of its four hits and repulsed a ninth-inning rally for a 4-3 win at Texas-San Antonio on Tuesday.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Wildcats tied the game on a sacrifice fly by
Garrett Williams in the second and took a 2-1 lead in the third on a bases-loaded walk by
Aaron Staehely.
Miller Ladusau cranked a two-run home run in the fourth for a 4-1 lead.
UTSA scored once in the eighth and another in the ninth but left the tying run at third and the winning run at second as
Cade McGarrh picked up the save.
In addition to Ladusau's home run, the Wildcats got a double from
DJ Van Atten and singles from Williams and
Maddox Miesse.
Dash Albus struck out four in two innings of scoreless relief to get the pitching win.
Brett Garcia struck out four batters in 1.2 scoreless innings and
Caden Greanead also pitched a scoreless frame with one strikeout.
The win ended the long stretch of road games at the Wildcats return for a three-game Western Athletic Conference series this weekend against Texas-Arlington. That series begins with a 6:05 p.m. game on Friday.
