SAN ANTONIO – Abilene Christian rallied from being behind twice and took a 5-2 road win at Texas-San Antonio on Tuesday.
After falling behind 1-0, the Wildcats tied the game on
Kaydee Bennett's fourth home run of the season in the top of the third inning.
The Roadrunners scored again and led 2-1 but
Olivia Marble came through with a two-run double for a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth. Marble would score on an error for a 4-2 lead.
Bubba Rote scored from first base on a double by
Emmy Hornick when the ball was misplayed in right field.
The Wildcats had eight hits on the night, led by Bennett with three.
Catrin Hoffman, Hornick and Marble had doubles and
Skylar Padgett and
Avery Miloch each had a single.
Talia Nielsen pitched 4.1 innings in relief for the win, allowing one run.
Bubba Rote got the save, striking out three batters in two innings.
The Wildcats return to action next Tuesday at North Texas.
