SACRAMENTO –
Brett Lanman and
Cade McGarrh combined on a two-hit shutout of Sacramento State for a series-clinching 3-0 win for Abilene Christian on Sunday.
Lanman, 4-1, went seven innings and allowed a double and a single while striking out seven for the pitching win. McGarrh got his third save of the season with two perfect innings with two strikeouts.
ACU got all the runs it needed in the first inning.
DJ Van Atten was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and
Maddox Miesse produced a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead.
Miesse tacked on an RBI double in the third for the final margin.
The Wildcats had six hits on the day with Miesse's double and singles by
Zandt Payne,
Miller Ladusau,
Gino D'Alessio,
Aaron Staehely and
Reese Borho.
ACU returns home next week, hosting Utah Valley Thursday through Saturday.
