ABILENE – Abilene Christian had 18 runs and 22 hits but settled for a split with Seattle on Friday, winning 11-3 and falling 17-7.
After falling behind 1-0 in the opener, the Wildcats struck for seven runs in the first inning.
Catrin Hoffman had a two-run single to give ACU a 2-1 lead.
Sydney Kaiser followed with an RBI single and
Bubba Rote added an RBI ground out.
Skylar Padgett ripped a three-run home run off the foul pole for a 7-1 lead.
Miranda Lista had an RBI ground out in the third and tacked on an RBI single in the fourth after Kaiser came up with her second RBI single of the game.
Riley White's RBI grounder in the fifth ended the game on the run rule.
White had three hits in the game to pace the 11-hit attack.
Sammie Shelander added a double and a single. Kaiser had two singles and
Olivia Marble, Hoffman, Lista and Padgett had one hit each.
Talia Nielsen went the distance for the win.
Seattle scored three in the first inning of the second game but ACU took a 4-3 lead in the third on an RBI single by Hoffman and a three-run home run by Shelander.
Seattle tied the game in the fourth but ACU scored three more in the fourth on a solo home run by Kaiser, a steal of home by Rote and an RBI double by Marble.
The Redhawks took the lead for good in the sixth and scored eight in the seventh.
Shelander and
Kaydee Bennett had two hits each. Marble, Hoffman, White, Kaiser, Rote,
Rachel Cook and List had one apiece.
Ella Beeman was charged with the loss.
The teams meet for the series finale Saturday at noon.
