ABILENE, Texas – The Abilene Christian Wildcats secured a decisive 74-59 victory over East Texas A&M at Moody Coliseum on Thursday afternoon. With their third consecutive win, the Wildcats improve their record to 7-4. Strong performances from multiple players and dominance in the paint fueled the Wildcats to their second straight win.
ACU wasted no time setting the tone, outscoring the Lady Eagles 17-10 in the opening quarter. The Wildcats' aggressive defense and efficiency in transition helped build momentum early, and they carried a 36-29 lead into halftime. In the third quarter, ACU put the game out of reach with a 25-15 run, extending their lead to as points.
Payton Hull led the charge for ACU, scoring a team-high 17 points while adding three rebounds and two assists. Bella Earle followed closely with 16 points on an impressive 8-of-14 shooting, contributing four rebounds and two steals. Emma Troxell added 12 points and three rebounds, while Meredith Mayes anchored the interior with a double-double of nine and 11 rebounds, alongside two blocks and three assists.
The Wildcats excelled in the paint, outscoring East Texas A&M 50-14 in close-range scoring opportunities. Their ability to capitalize on turnovers was another key factor, as they converted 18 points off 17 Lady Eagle miscues.
Defensively, ACU limited East Texas A&M to 31.1% shooting (19-of-61) from the field and controlled the boards with a 41-36 rebounding advantage. Despite the Lady Eagles' 11 three-pointers, ACU's efficient 50% field-goal shooting kept the visitors at bay.
