ABILENE - The ACU women's basketball team extended their winning record to 6-4 with a 59-45 win over UTRGV away in Edinburg. The Wildcats controlled the game from start to finish, using a powerful inside game and tight defense to claim victory.
ACU showcased their scoring depth and defensive talent, outscoring the Vaqueros in points in the paint 44-10 and converting 20 points off turnovers. Payton Hull led the Wildcats with 16 points, including two clutch three-pointers. Bella Earle added 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Meredith Mayes contributed to the board with 10 rebounds and 7 points.
The Wildcats built an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 13-7 and extending the gap to 36-22 by halftime. A strong third quarter saw ACU push their advantage to 20 points, their largest game lead. Despite a late push from UTRGV, the Wildcats held firm, limiting the Vaqueros to just 27.5% shooting.
The Wildcats will return to action this Saturday back in Moody Coliseum at 1:00 p.m. against East Texas A&M. Saturday's match will be available on ESPN+ and live stats.
