ACU kicker
Ritse Vaes joined teammates
Will Shaffer and
Sam Hicks on the 2024 FCS Associated Press All-America Teams, which were announced on Tuesday.
Hicks was named to the 2nd Team Offense as an all-purpose player, while Shaffer, a linebacker, and Vaes were each named Honorable Mention.
It's the second All-America honor for Hicks and Shaffer.
The pair were named 2nd Team All-America by Stats Perform FCS.
Vaes finished his one season at ACU with 97 kicking points -- the fourth highest single-season total in school history behind Matt Adams' 2007 and 2008 seasons, and Morgan Lineberry's 2010 campaign.
Vaes was 14-of-20 on field goals, which is tied for the second most makes in ACU single-season history with Dennis Brown (1987), Nik Grau (2014) and
Kyle Ramsey (2023). Vaes also connected on 55-of-56 extra point attempts, good enough to land him in fourth place.
His 13 kicking points (2-of-2 FG, 7-of-7 PAT) in the Wildcats' 55-30 win at Utah Tech were the fifth most in a single-game for ACU.
The Wildcats had previously only had one player named FCS AP All-American. Ramsey was the 3rd Team kicker in 2023.
