ABILENE, Texas — ACU will hope to go on its first winning streak this season on Saturday in a Group of Five matchup against the Texas State Bobcats.
The Wildcats will close out their four-game homestand on Saturday as a second-half of a doubleheader as the Wildcats take on the Texas State. It'll be the first time the two programs have faced each other since 2019, and the third matchup in the two teams' program history. ACU won the first-ever game in Abilene on December 9, 2017, 72-68. The Bobcats won the most recent matchup in San Marcos on November 25, 2019, 61-56. This will be the first time ACU will play against Texas State under head coach Brette Tanner.
The game on Saturday, November 12 is set to begin at 2:30 p.m., with tickets still available HERE. The game will also air live on ESPN+ and 101.7 FM, The Patriot. If fans can't watch the game in person or stream it, fans can follow the game on X, Facebook, Instagram or acusports.com.
ACU STORYLINES:
LAST GAME: The Wildcats renewed their rivalry with cross-town rival, McMurry, taking a dominant 101-55 win. The shining star in the game was junior guard Colby Tanner, head coach Brette Tanner's son. He had a game-high 18 points off of the bench, shooting 50 percent from the 3-point line. Six other Wildcats also scored in double digits in the game.
GRABBING BOARDS: The Wildcats are currently one of the top teams in the nation in rebounding. They are fifth in the nation averaging 50.7 rebounds per game and third in the nation with a +21.0 rebounding margin. Bradyn Hubbard leads the 'Cats with 7.3 rebounds per game.
LOCKDOWN D: ACU is also among the top teams in the nation in defense. The 'Cats only allow opponents to shoot 36.4 from the field, good for No. 55 in the country. They also are ranked No. 14 in the nation in 3-point defense, only allowing teams to shoot 21.2 from behind the arch.
BET ON BETTIOL: Junior forward Leonardo Bettiol leads the 'Cats in their offensive efforts this season. Bettiol averages 13.3 points per game in 19.3 of play per game while shooting a team-best 78.3 percent from the field. He also adds five rebounds a game for ACU.
FIRST YEAR, NO PROBLEM: Freshman guard Dontrez Williams has made himself a key part of the Wildcats' rotation in his first three games at the collegiate level. Williams averages 11.3 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and 33 percent from the 3-point line.

Scouting the Bobcats
- The Bobcats are 2-1 so far this season, with their first two wins coming against Eastern Michigan, and a familiar foe McMurry. Their last game brought the first loss for the Bobcats, falling 71-76 on the road at TCU.
- Texas State is led by Terrence Johnson in his fifth year. In his first five seasons at Texas State, he has a 74-53 overall record.
- Sophomore guard and San Marcos native, Kaden Gumbs, leads the Bobcats with 17.3 points per game while shooting 57 percent from the field. Gumbs also averages a team-high 30.7 minutes per game.
- Joshua O'Garro leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game while also 10.3 points per game.
