Angela Del Campo did not let losing the first set of Sunday's Flight D championship match get her down.
Instead, the junior from Gijon, Spain, dug deep and powered ahead to win the second and third sets in convincing fashion over Ireland Simme from Texas State (4-6, 6-1, 6-2).
Two of Del Campo's teammates,
Olivia Sears and
Masha Vrsalovic, also made it to the title matches of their respective flights at the Wildcat Invtiational. Sears lost in straight sets to Texas Tech's Mariia Hlahola while Vrsalovic took the first set over Tech's Arina Oreshchenkova, but lost in second and third frames.
Next up for the ACU women's tennis team are the ITA Women's Regional Championships in Ft. Worth on Oct. 10-14. The WAC Fall Championshiops will be hosted by ACU on Oct. 25-27.
