ACU Drops Two in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS – Abilene Christian dropped a pair of matches to finish off the Bobcat Invitational with a 3-0 loss to California and a 3-1 setback at the hands of Texas State.
 
Madeline Guffy earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.
 
In the match with California, ACU lost 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.
 
Braden Bossier had five kills and Madeline Guffy collected 14 assists.
 
Defensively, Hannah Gonzalez led ACU with three blocks and Sara Carrizales handled 11 digs.
 
ACU forced a wild second set in the Texas State loss, taking a 30-28 win. Down 28-27, ACU got a kill and an ace from Ashli Edmiston before Braden Bossier finished off the set,
 
Texas State won the match 25-21, 28-30, 25-13, 25-19.
 
Alexis Strong led the offense with 14 kills with Edmiston and Bossier adding 10 each. Guffy had 30 assists.
 
Edmiston had 15 digs, followed by Guffy with 14 and Andie Sheppard with 11. Breanna Box had three blocks.
 
The Wildcats return to action next weekend when they travel to Mississippi State to play Lipscomb on Friday and Mississippi State on Saturday.
