ABILENE – Abilene Christian opens the Western Athletic Conference portion of its volleyball season on Thursday, hosting Seattle University at 6 p.m.
 
The Wildcats are 5-7 this season after a 3-1 loss at Mississippi State.
 
ACU won last year's meeting in Abilene in three sets.

: Madeline Guffy leads the Western Athletic Conference with 0.63 aces per set. She has 16 aces this season, which ties her for the team lead with Sara Carrizales. Abby Christian has 15 and Izzy Larson has served up 11.
 
HERE TO HELP: Madeline Guffy averages 8.22 assists this season as the starter and Rachel Koss, in her 17 sets, averages 8.94. Guffy had 52 assists in a four-set win over Houston Christian to start the season – a mark that is the best four-set total in the WAC this season.
 
BIG DIGS: Sara Carrizales came up with a conference-best 27 digs in a four-set match in ACU's win against Texas Tech. She is second in the WAC with 4.09 digs per set. Ashli Edmiston (2.22), Madeline Guffy (2.22), Bryley Steinhilber (2.14) and Abby Christian (2.04) all average better than two digs per set.
 
BB BLOCKAGE: Breanna Box and Braden Bossier lead the Wildcats with 0.73 and 0.6 blocks per set.
 
WHO'S IT GOING TO BE?: ACU has spread the kills around this season with no one player averaging more than three kills per set. Ashli Edmiston leads the team at 2.71 but the Cats also have Braden Bossier at 2.29, Bryley Steinhilber at 2.27 and Breanna Box at 2.00.
 
LAST MEETING: In last season's 3-0 win over Seattle, Ashli Edmiston led the Wildcats with 10 kills while Braden Bossier and Breanna Box got in on three blocks each. Madeline Guffy had 14 digs and 19 assists.
