Burleson, Collier, Marshall Honored by WAC

ABILENE – The Western Athletic Conference on Tuesday awarded three Abilene Christian track and field athletes with Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors.
 
Zoe Burleson, a sophomore from Rocksprings, earned Women's Field Athlete of the Week, Nathanial Collier, a redshirt freshman from Lenapah, Oklahoma, won Men's Field Athlete of the Week and Jack Marshall, a senior from Brady, won Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
 
"We had a great week of competition and we're so proud of these people and all our team," said ACU Head Coach Jerrod Cook. "This gives us great excitement and momentum going into the conference meet next week!"
 
Burleson won the discus throw at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout at Texas Tech with the top throw in the WAC at 57.24. This throw ranks No. 8 in the West Regional and No. 14 in the NCAA overall. It is the second-best mark in ACU history. She also won the discus (54.41) and shot put (15.09) at ACU's Oliver Jackson Twilight on Thursday.
 
Collier placed fifth in the discus at Texas Tech's Corky/Crofoot Shootout with a throw of 55.95, which is No. 2 in the WAC, No. 35 in the West and No. 58 in the NCAA. He also competed in ACU's Oliver Jackson Twilight on Thursday, taking second in the shot put at 15.83 meters and third in the discus at 54-0.
 
Marshall placed second at the Oliver Jackson Twilight 100 Meters in 10.32 seconds for the No. 2 time in the WAC this season. It also is No. 35 in the West and No. 95 in the NCAA.
