Meeuwenberg to Guide ACU Distance, XC Teams

ABILENE – Abilene Christian announced the hire of cross country head coach and distance coach Nathan Meeuwenberg, who begins in June.

Meeuwenberg comes to ACU from Edinboro University, where he was head cross country coach. He brings an array of awards and accomplishments to the Wildcats.

He was the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2022 and won the men's award the previous season. He also was a two-time Atlantic Region honoree.

"Nathan is a game changer for our program," said ACU Head Track and Field Coach Jerrod Cook. "He is going to take our distance program to new heights and make each of us better as coaches. He has an incredible passion for track and field and for the people. I know our distance program is going to do great with Nathan stepping into this role."

Meeuwenberg's cross country teams have claimed conference crowns in 2019 (Kings University) and in 2021 and 2022 at Edinboro with men's and women's teams qualifying for nationals in both seasons at EU. He was a part of EU's first PSAC women's indoor track championship in 2022 and the outdoor runner-up women's team in 2023.

"The deep tradition of the ACU cross country and track and field caught my attention early in the process and Coach Jerrod Cook sold me on the vision of where the program is going," said Meeuwenberg. "My family and I are excited to be a part of the Wildcat team. Along with Coach Cook, I am excited to work alongside Coach Rasor and Coach Dillard to continue to bring a standard of excellence to the program. The future is bright at ACU! Go Wildcats!"
