ABILENE – Six Abilene Christian football players received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, the CSC announced on Tuesday.
Anthony Egbo, Jr.,
Dustin Inness,
Darius Moore,
Cooper McCasland,
Grant Nickel and
Kyle Ramsey earned the honor, which requires a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and a significant on-field contribution to the football team.
Egbo is a senior defensive back from Richmond and is completing his MBA degree. He was a finalist for the Doris Robinson Academic Award and started all 11 games for ACU, registering 30 tackles.
Inness is a senior long-snapper from Phoenix, Ariz. and is working on his MBA degree. Inness is a fourth-team Phil Steele fourth-team All-Conference selection. He played in all 11 games this season and was an All-Conference performer in 2022.
Moore is a junior linebacker from El Reno, Okla., majoring in liberal studies. He led the team with 78 tackles and 44 assisted tackles. He also had two hurries, six tackles for loss and forced one fumble and earned a spot on Phil Steele's All-UAC third team.
McCasland is a sophomore wide receiver from Hurst majoring in management. He played in 10 games and had 20 receptions for an 11.5-yard average with one touchdown.
Nickel is a sophomore punter from Spring who majors in criminal justice. He was first-team All-UAC as selected by the league coaches after he led the league and was 16th in the FCS with 43 yards per punt. He had a long of 60 yards and 14 punts for 50 or more yards. He also placed 23 of his 59 punts inside the 20.
Ramsey is a sophomore placekicker from Missouri City is working on his MBA. He has been placed on three All-America teams so far this season and is the UAC Specialist of the Year. Ramsey had three field goals in the FCS top four in terms of distance with a 55-yarder (against Prairie View A&M) and two 54-yarders (against North Texas and North Alabama). He also had a 51-yard field goal against Incarnate Word. He is just the second ACU kicker with four field goals of 50-plus yards in a season. Ramsey was four of five from beyond 50 yards and converted all 10 of attempts from inside 50 yards. He was second in the FCS with 93.3 percent of his field goals made and was 33 of 34 in extra point attempts.
