Cats Finish Regular Season with Saturday-Monday Set

ABILENE – Abilene Christian finishes the regular season with a road trip Saturday to Texas-Rio Grande Valley and a home game on Monday against Tarleton State that will impact seeding for the WAC Tournament.
 
ACU enters the week at 11-15 overall and 6-8 in the league and is tied with Tarleton State and Utah Valley for sixth. The top eight seeds reach the tournament and Utah Tech, at 4-10, has a chance to end the regular season in a tie for a playoff berth.
 
UTRGV is 16-11 overall and 10-4 in the league. Tarleton State is 15-13 this season with a 6-8 conference record.
 
ACU Storylines
 
BOUNCE BACK: The Wildcats claimed a huge win over California Baptist that put an end to a five-match slide and solidified ACU's postseason hopes.
 
KILLS: Bryley Steinhilber leads the Wildcats with 2.91 kills per set with Ashli Edmiston close behind at 2.72. Edmiston has come on strong in the last three matches, averaging 2.92 kills and Braden Bossier has been an efficient .388 and averages 2.89 kills per set over the last three matches.
 
ASSISTS: Madeline Guffy leads ACU with a 9.16 assists per set average. She's stepped up her game in the matches that matter most, averaging 9.71 assists in conference contests.
 
ACES: Madeline Guffy, who has 20 aces in conference games, leads the team with 36 aces this season. Abby Christian has 32 this season and Sara Carrizales, who has six aces in the last three matches, has 30.
 
DIGS: Sara Carrizales leads the team with 3.45 digs this season.  Andie Sheppard and Bryley Steinhilber have been putting up strong numbers lately. Sheppard has raised her average to 3.26 and Steinhilber is up to 2.55 after getting 50 and 40 digs, respectively, over the last three matches.
 
UTRGV RECAP: Braden Bossier led ACU with nine kills and three blocks in the Wildcat loss to the Vaqueros. Claudia Lupescu and Nadine Zech had 13 kills each for UTRGV in the Vaqueros' sweep.
 
TARLETON RECAP: The Texans got a 3-1 win in Stephenville last month with Rajini Fitzmaurice posting 12 kills and Mattie Theurer adding 18 digs. Bryley Steinhilber had 13 kills and a dozen digs. Breanna Box added 10 kills.
