Wildcats Visit NC State on Friday

ABILENE – Abilene Christian heads to Raleigh, N.C., and Tobacco Road to take on North Carolina State Friday at 7 p.m. (Central).
 
The Wildcats surprised Oklahoma State in the season opener for both teams on Monday, 64-59.
 
The Wolfpack also stands at 1-0 after defeating the Citadel, 72-59, on Monday.
 
ACU Storylines
 
HISTORIC WIN:
Abilene Christian got its first win over Oklahoma State since the 1960s and it was the first home season-opening loss for the Cowboys since 1954.
 
TRIO IN DOUBLES:
ACU had three scorers in double figures in the first game, led by Abi Abdou Dibba with 15. Hunter Jack Madden had 14 and Airion Simmons added 11. ACU got three-pointers from five players on Monday with Dibba, Simmons, Madden, Cameron Steele and JV Seat getting one apiece.
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Airion Simmons had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds and also led the Wildcats with four assists with only one turnover.
 
HISTORY: This will be the first meeting between the Wildcats and the Wolfpack.
 
Scouting North Carolina State
 
  • NCSU is 1-0 after a 72-56 win over The Citadel on Monday.
  • NC State was led in the game by graduate forward Dj Burns Jr., who scored a game-high 16 points. Burns made his first six field goal attempts on his way to 8-of-11 shooting from the field. 
  • NC State has a 44-2 (.957) record against non-conference opponents in regular season home games under head coach Kevin Keatts.
  • After setting a program record last season for the fewest turnovers in a season and ranking seventh in the NCAA with an average of just 9.4 turnovers per game, NC State only had nine turnovers in Monday's season-opening win over The Citadel.
