
Heusel Leads After Two Rounds in Kansas

NEWTON, Kan. – Zane Heusel had two eagles and leads the field at the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational after Monday's first two rounds.
ACU is fourth in the team standings at 566 after rounds of 286 and 280.
"Overall, the boys played well today," said ACU Head Coach Tom Shaw. "We got off to a slow start in the early morning but came back in the afternoon on a hot streak. Zane Heusel really led the way for us today. He's playing some great golf and I know he's excited about the opportunity tomorrow. We received good performances from everybody in the lineup today and if we can put it all together tomorrow we'll have a chance to come home with some hardware."
Heusel eagled the fourth hole in the first round and the 16th hole in the second round. He finished the day with a 68 and a 67 for a nine-under-par 135. Heusel is tied with golfers from Wichita State, Rice and Seton Hall atop the leaderboard.
Heusel also had birdies on holes 6, 10, 11 and 17 in the first round and 1, 3, 10 and 18 in the second round.
Charlie Jackson is 26th and also had a second-round eagle on the 16th hole. He had rounds of 69 and 74 for 143. Jackson birdied holes 2, 3, 4, 7, 9 and 16 in the first round and 4 and 5 in the second.
Thomas Buisson is in third place at even-par 144 with rounds of 73 and 71. He birdied holes 2, 4, 5, 16 and 18 in the first round and 7, 14, 15 and 16 in the second.
Grégoire Hoyeau and Brian Comegys are tied for 61st at 148.
Hoyeau shot 76 in the first round with birdies on 7 and 17 and followed that with a 72 with birdies on 4, 10 and 15. Comegys had birdies on 5, 16 and 17 in his first-round 78 and 4, 5, 7, 13 and 16 while shooting a 70 in the second round.
The tournament concludes on Tuesday at the Sand Creek Station Golf Club.
