ABILENE – Abilene Christian kept up a good fight but couldn't get the wrest a win from an aggressive Utah Valley squad on Sunday, falling 3-1.

Heather Stainbrook got the hat trick for the Wolverines and put the visitors ahead 1-0 in the 31st minute. UVUY, which had outscored its opponents 21-1 in the four previous games, had a more modest lead at halftime.

Stainbrook headed in s nice cross by Sadie Beardall for a 2-0 lead in the 65th minute and got her third goal two minutes later for a 3-0 lead.

Jazzilyn Torres made a phenomenal cross to
Peyton Hill in the box and Hill put the ball in the net for the lone ACU goal, coming in the 87th minute.

"Great defense," said ACU Head Coach Stephen Salas. "We limited them to two shots on goal and continued to block shots. We got a great goal in the second half. This team doesn't stop fighting and that's what we love about them."

The Wildcats had five shots in the game with shots on goal by Hill,
Taylor Denn and
McCarly Holloman.

ACU hits the road for a pair of games in Utah next week, playing at Southern Utah on Thursday and Utah Tech on Sunday.
