OREM, Utah – The ACU women's basketball team wraps up the week-long quest in Utah with a matchup against Utah Valley on Saturday, Jan. 14. The Wildcats (8-8, 2-3 WAC) look to bounce back after a tough loss on Wednesday at Utah Tech, and will make their first-ever trip to Orem and the UCCU Center. Utah Valley looks to snap its four-game losing streak and want to avenge its loss to ACU last season as well. The game tips on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT (2 p.m. MT) and will air on ESPN+.

ACU STORYLINES

  • WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN ST. GEORGE
    • Fifth-year transfer Maleeah Langstaff led the way with an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double, four players finished with 10 or more points, but ACU fell to Utah Tech Wednesday night in a high-scoring affair, 85-74. The Wildcats led 4-3 in the first quarter early, but the Trailblazers took the lead and never looked back on their way to an 11-point victory. Both teams hit 11 three-pointers, but Utah Tech shot over 50% from the floor and kept the lead around double digits the entire night.
  • MILLER TIME
    • Fifth-year senior Madi Miller had an incredible weekend at home against Sam Houston and UT Arlington. The guard dropped 29 points against UT Arlington, hitting seven three-pointers in the process, both of which are new career-highs. Miller hit each of her first three attempts, and then hit a big shot from nearly half court at the buzzer to end the second quarter. Miller is having her best season as a Wildcat, leading the team in scoring at 12.4 per game. Miller has 10 double-digit games and two 20-point efforts for the season.
  • ADDI-BALL
    • Redshirt freshman Addison Martin was exceptional in her own right last weekend at home, averaging 18.5 points per game. The post hit 15 of her 19 shot attempts and went 7-9 at the foul line. Martin averaged six rebounds per game and tallied three blocks as well. The youngster had a career-best 29 points against Sam Houston on Thursday, dominating every aspect of the game. She also, despite being in foul trouble, scored eight more points on Saturday in the win over UTA.
  • #1 IN THE PROGRAM AND OUR HEARTS
    • Sophomore transfer Aspen Thornton is playing her best basketball as a Wildcat, scoring in double figures in nine of her last 10 games, including four in a row. Thornton is averaging 14.2 points during this 10-game stretch, and has three 20-point efforts in that stretch. Thornton dropped 25 points last Saturday on 10-15 shooting, including a season-high five triples. Thornton beat the buzzer herself Saturday, hitting a shot from half court to end the first quarter. Thornton has played for 30-plus minutes in each of the last four games as well.
  • CAREER MILESTONE WATCH
    • 1,000-Point Club: Madi Miller - 983 points, Aspen Thornton - 781 points
    • 150-Steal Club: Madi Miller - 138 steals
    • Aspen Thornton just joined the 100-assist club with four against Utah Tech. She now has 103 for her two-year career.
  • COACH GOODENOUGH’S MILESTONES
    • Head coach Julie Goodenough will coach her 824th career game on Saturday, and has earned 496 career victories, including 207 as the coach at ACU. Goodenough is in her 29th season overall and her 11th with the Wildcats.

SCOUTING UTAH VALLEY (4-12, 1-4 WAC)

  • The Wolverines are looking to snap a four-game losing streak, falling to Utah Tech, NM State, California Baptist, and most recently to Southern Utah on Wednesday.
  • UVU is only averaging 53.7 points per game this season, and is shooting it just 36% from the floor.
  • A pair of players average double figures for the year; Jaeden Brown leads the way with 14.6 points per game, while Shay Fano is at 10.4 points per night.
