ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Wildcat women's basketball team heads out west for a pair of matchups this week beginning with a Wednesday night date with Utah Tech. ACU (8-7, 2-2 WAC) is off a big home win over UT Arlington, and looks to build a winning streak in league play for the first time. The game features two teams who take more three-pointers than anyone in the WAC, with Utah Tech attempting 29 three's per game and ACU shooting 26 attempts per game. Wednesday's game tips at 8 p.m. CT (7 p.m. MT) and will air on ESPN+.

ACU STORYLINES

  • WEEKEND HOME SPLIT
    • The Wildcats hosted Sam Houston last Thursday and after trailing by as many as 24 points in the third quarter, ACU stormed back to get within three. The last-second shot rimmed in and out, and the Bearkats came away with a 69-66 win in Moody Coliseum. The Wildcats bounced back in a big way on Saturday against UT Arlington, however. ACU never trailed, scored a season-high 92 points, hit a season-best 14 three-pointers, and beat the Mavericks by 20, 92-72. ACU salvaged the split for the weekend and gets to 2-2 in league play heading on the road.
  • MILLER TIME
    • Fifth-year senior Madi Miller had a weekend. The guard dropped 29 points against UT Arlington, hitting seven three-pointers in the process, both of which are new career-highs. Miller hit each of her first three attempts, and then hit a big shot from nearly half court at the buzzer to end the second quarter. Miller is having her best season as a Wildcat, leading the team in scoring at 12.2 per game. Miller She has nine double-digit games and two 20-point efforts for the season, and made 10 of her 15 shot attempts last Saturday.
  • ADDI-BALL
    • Redshirt freshman Addison Martin was exceptional in her own right this weekend, averaging 18.5 points per game. The post hit 15 of her 19 shot attempts and went 7-9 at the foul line. Martin averaged six rebounds per game and tallied three blocks as well. The youngster had a career-best 29 points against Sam Houston on Thursday, dominating every aspect of the game. She also, despite being in foul trouble, scored eight more points on Saturday in the win over UTA.
  • #1 IN THE PROGRAM AND OUR HEARTS
    • Sophomore transfer Aspen Thornton is playing her best basketball as a Wildcat, scoring in double figures in eight of her last nine games, including four in a row. Thornton is averaging 14.7 points during this nine-game stretch, and has three 20-point efforts in that stretch. Thornton dropped 25 points on Saturday on 10-15 shooting, including a season-high five triples. Thornton beat the buzzer herself Saturday, hitting a shot from half court to end the first quarter. Thornton has played for 30-plus minutes in each of the last three games as well.

    • 1,000-Point Club: Madi Miller - 968 points, Aspen Thornton - 768 points
    • 150-Steal Club: Madi Miller - 137 steals

  • COACH GOODENOUGH’S MILESTONES
    • Head coach Julie Goodenough will coach her 823rd career game on Wednesday, and has earned 496 career victories, including 207 as the coach at ACU. Goodenough is in her 29th season overall and her 11th with the Wildcats.

SCOUTING UTAH TECH (10-5, 2-2 WAC)

  • The Trailblazers are coming off a road split, falling at SFA on Thursday, 99-51, before topping Sam Houston on Saturday, 79-67.
  • Utah Tech is averaging 78 points per game and has attempted 442 three-pointers so far this season, the most in the WAC.
  • All five starters average double figures for UT, led by Macie Warren's 18.9 ppg. Braunna Gillen (18.6 ppg), Maggie McCord (11.7 ppg), Amber Kartchner (11.1 ppg), and Emily Isaacson (10.1 ppg) round out the group.
