Jordan Michie scored the equalizer in the 51st minute, her third-straight game with a goal, but the ACU soccer team fell 2-1 at the hands of Utah Tech at Elmer Gray Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The loss is the first for the Wildcats (4-3-3, 0-1-2 WAC) since Aug. 26, snapping a six-match streak. ACU led 9-5 in shot attempts in a physical defensive battle, but could not capitalize late. The Trailblazers (7-3-1, 3-0-1 WAC) scored the game-winner in the 61st minute in the second half.
"We played a solid game overall today and had plenty of chances to score," said head coach
Casey Wilson. "Unfortunately we were just on the wrong end today. Both teams this weekend were tough and we know each game going forward will be a grind."
The Goals
- 15' | Lauren Buxton scored after the ball was deflected multiple times in the box to put Utah Tech up 1-0.
- 55' | Michie, who has now scored in three-straight games, converts after a pass from
McCarly Holloman on the left side. Michie used one touch from the far left side of the box and connect in the upper corner for the score.
- 61' | Utah Tech scored the game-winner off a corner kick that was then headed around. After multiple deflections, Abigail Allard just barely got the ball across the line for the score.
The Numbers
- ACU led 9-5 in shot attempts, but just 4-2 in shots on frame. Both shots on goal resulted in scores for Utah Tech.
- It was a physical game that featured 17 fouls.

Chayse Thorn, and
Natalie Jones each tallied a team-high two shot attempts.
- Michie now has a goal in three-straight games and in four of the last five games. She is now up to seven goals on the season.

- ACU hits the road for the next four games, beginning next weekend. The Wildcats will travel to Huntsville, Texas on Friday, Sept. 30 to battle Sam Houston at 6:30 before heading to Las Cruces, N.M. to take on NM State on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. Friday's game will air on ESPN+, while Sunday's will air on WAC International.
