ABILENE – Senior
Jordan Michie scored the equalizer in the 55th minute, the defense held strong, the offense controlled the ball the majority of the game, but the ACU soccer team came away with a 1-1 tie Friday night at Elmer Gray Stadium against Southern Utah. The Wildcats (4-2-3, 0-0-2 WAC) led 22-13 in shot attempts, and held a high-powered offense in check. It was an impressive game all around, and the 'Cats come away with their second-straight tie to start WAC play, giving them two points total in the standings.
"We were very happy with the way we played tonight," said head coach
Casey Wilson. "Obviously we wanted the win, but we were pleased with how we played for the whole 90 minutes. We hope to take this momentum into Sunday."
The Goals
- 23' | Southern Utah, who came in with a 7-1 record and a 2-0 mark to start league play, got on the board first with a goal from Whitney Wangsgard. It put SUU up 1-0, and they took that lead into the break.
- 55' | Michie, who has been on a tear as of late, tied the game in the second half.
Brennan Reuland drove the ball down the middle of the field and moved off to the right side, then sent a pass off to the middle for Michie. The senior needed just one touch to shoot it with her right foot into the back of the net.
The Numbers
- ACU led 22-13 in shot attempts, including 10-7 in shots on frame.
- SUU held a slight 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

Lily Foster tallied six saves in net and played all 90 minutes.

Natalie Jones led the way with a career-high nine shot attempts, including a career-best five shots on frame.
- Michie scored her third goal of the season, the most in a season in her career. The senior took four shot attempts for the night.

Ellen Joss tallied three shot attempts from the defender spot as well.
- The three ties matches the most in a season in ACU history, tying the 2015 squad which went 8-8-3.
