STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Senior
Jordan Michie scored in the fifth minute, the defense dominated the entire day, and the ACU soccer team came out with a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon against Tarleton in the WAC opener. Michie's early goal gave ACU (4-2-2, 0-0-1 WAC) the lead, but Tarleton (4-2-2, 0-0-1 WAC) answered with only eight minutes left in the game to tie it up. Each team gets a point in the WAC standings as the league schedule began this weekend.
"This was not the result we wanted today," said head coach
Casey Wilson. "But, it really comes down to us. We did not do enough to get the win. Simply said, we have to score more to win games."
The Goals

Caylen Wright went for the header from right in front of the net. The ball was deflected slightly, and Michie was there to put it in with her foot to go up 1-0.
- 82' | Macy Hellwig scored with just eight minutes remaining in the game to tie it up, 1-1.
The Numbers
- There were only 14 total shot attempts in the game, with Tarleton leading ever-so-slightly, 8-6.
- The difference was the shots on goal. Tarleton led 6-2 in that category.

Lily Foster finished with five saves, including four in the first half. It was her first full game played since the season opener at North Texas.
- ACU led 4-3 in corner kicks, and capitalized on one for the goal.
- It was the first game in the history of these schools in soccer. Tarleton is in their first season of women's soccer.
