STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Bryson Hill launched a two-run home run,
Colton Eager hit a grand slam, but the comeback effort fell just short for the ACU baseball team against Tarleton on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats (25-22, 13-11 WAC) trailed 6-0 two innings into the ballgame, and eventually got the game tied in the top of the seventh, but the Texans (14-33, 7-17 WAC) scored three in the bottom of the eighth to top ACU, 9-6. The loss snaps a five-game WAC winning streak, and keeps ACU in fourth place in the Southwest Division standings.
How It Happened
- Tarleton took the lead early for the second-straight day, launching a pair of home runs in the bottom of the first inning to lead 3-0.
- The Texans then opened up a 6-0 advantage in the bottom of the second inning with a three-run blast.
- ACU trailed 6-0 all the way to the top of the sixth, when Hill got the team on the scoreboard with a two-run home run to right center field. ACU trailed 6-2 going to the seventh.
- The Wildcats tied the game in the top of the seventh with heroics from Eager, who hit one out to right center field for a grand slam to even the game at 6-6.
- Tarleton took the lead for good with three runs in the home eighth, scoring on an rbi-single and a two-run home run. ACU went down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth.

Beyond the Box Score
- Eager's grand slam was ACU's fourth of the year as a team. Tatrow hit two in a week, and Hill hit one earlier this season as well.
- ACU's 72 home runs this season are the most in a single season in the history of the program at any level.
On Deck
- ACU returns home for the final three games of the season at Crutcher Scott Field next weekend. The 'Cats host Lamar starting next Friday, May 14 at 6:05 p.m. Saturday's game two starts at 3:05 p.m., and Sunday's finale gets underway at 1:05 p.m. All three games air on ESPN+.
