Wildcats make quick work of Trinity, prepare for final two regular season matches

ABILENE, Texas – The ACU men's tennis team hosted Trinity on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Tigers 6-1 at Eager Tennis Pavilion. The 'Cats have now won five of their last six matches after outscoring opponents 11-3 at home this weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Savan Chhabra and Benjamin McDonald teamed up for a 6-1 win in the second doubles flight, allowing the tandem of Riley Tran and Cesar Barranquero to to pick up the clinching poiunt with a 6-3 win on Court 3. 
  • Barranquero was the first to wrap up singles action, doing so with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Wilson Hamilton in the third flight. 
  • Chhabra followed with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Alessio Azzalini on Court 2, and the Purple and White were quickly on the brink of clinching the final point.
  • Oswaldo Cano was the man who closed it out, defeating Eric Liao 6-2, 6-2 on Court 4 to make it a 4-0 advantage for ACU. 
  • Mihaly Deli and Tyler Stewart would go on to add a three-set victory each, doing so from the sixth and top singles flights respectively. 
 
UP NEXT: 
  • The Wildcats get back to Western Athletic Conference action later this week, hosting Grand Canyon on Friday afternoon. Doubles action is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. from Eager Tennis Pavilion.
