BEAUMONT, Texas – The Abilene Christian men's tennis team defeated New Mexico State for the third time this season on Saturday afternoon, knocking off the Aggies 4-2 in the semifinals of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament.
Tyler Stewart picked up the clinching point for the Purple and White, coming away with a tiebreaking win in the third singles flight.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Savan Chhabra and Jose Maria Rastrojo picked up a 6-4 win in #2 doubles, and the tandem of Daniel Morozov and Dario Kmet clinched the first point of the day with a 7-6 win on Court 1.
- Chhabra was the first Wildcat to clinch his singles match, defeating NMSU's Itay Feigin 6-1, 6-2 to make it a 2-0 lead.
- Cesar Barranquero put the 'Cats on the brink of advancing with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in #5 singles, but the Aggies answered with wins in each of the top two flights.
- Stewart sealed the deal for ACU three and half hours into the day, outlasting Corey Clark 7-5 in a thrilling tiebreaker.
UP NEXT:
- ACU will take on top seed and tournament host Lamar in the WA Championship on Sunday morning, with doubles action slated for 9:00 a.m.
