ACU STORYLINES

  • THANKGIVING HOOPS
    • ACU went to Denton for the UNT Thanksgiving Tournament, and split matchups against Montana State and Louisiana. ACU played one of its best all-around games of the year in the win over MSU last Friday, winning 66-61. Trailing 61-60, Madi Miller hit a big-time three-pointer, and ACU held on for the win. It was a different tune on Sunday against Louisiana, as ACU shot a season-low 28% and scored just 38 points in the 54-38 defeat to Louisiana.
  • MILLER'S WEEKEND
    • Super senior Madi Miller, playing in front of a lot of hometown fans in Denton, having grown up in Wylie, Texas, showed out at the UNT Thanksgiving Tournament. The guard was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She dropped a season-best 20 points with 12 rebounds in the win over Montana State, and answered back with 15 more with five boards against Louisiana. Miller shot 14-29 from the floor and hit seven three-pointers; for reference, Miller had just four triples made for the season going into the tournament.
  • BELLA ON THE BOARDS
    • ACU is rebounding well this season, with four players averaging north of 5.5 per game. But the leader is the pack is Bella Earle. The sophomore guard leads the way with 8.2 rebounds per game, while Miller is at 6.0 for the season. Maleeah Langstaff (5.8) and Addison Martin (5.7) are right behind Miller, but it's the guard Earle who is dominating on the glass so far this season.
  • LEADING SCORERS
    • Langstaff leads the way with 13.5 points per game, while Miller is right behind at 11.0 points per contest. Langstaff is shooting 56% from the floor, and also leads the 'Cats with eight steals defensively. Martin leads the way inside defensively with six blocks, and is right behind Langstaff with seven steals.
  • COACH GOODENOUGH’S MILESTONES
    • Head coach Julie Goodenough will coach her 814th career games Friday, and has earned 491 career victories, including 202 as the coach at ACU. Goodenough is in her 29th season overall and her 11th with the Wildcats.

SCOUTING ALABAMA STATE (0-4, 0-0 SWAC)

  • The Lady Hornets head to Texas Tech on Thursday before taking on ACU on Friday night. It's been a massive schedule early on for Alabama State, playing at SMU, at Georgia, at Mississippi State, and at Tech so far this season. The home opener for Alabama State is set for Dec. 7 against Samford.
  • Ayana Emmanuel and Jayla Crawford lead the way in scoring, with Emmanuel pacing the squad with 11.3 points per game. Crawford sits at 10.7 per contest, while Cordasia Harris's 6.5 rebounds per game are a team-high.
  • The Lady Hornets are averaging 45 points per game, but against some of the best competition in all of college basketball.
