Wildcats host Red Raiders Tuesday night in Teague

ABILENE - The Wildcats are coming off of a successful opening weekend at home where they went 2-0 to capture the tournament title with outside hitter Lindsey Toney taking home MVP honors. ACU put together two strong performances opening the weekend with a four-set win over UTA and closing out their weekend with a five-set win over UIW. The team will now welcome Texas Tech to Abilene for the first time since 2018.

  • NOTES | ACU's lone win came in 2013 at home, winning 3-1. All of ACU's losses have come in straight sets.

ACU STORYLINES

  • Lindsey Toney is coming off an historic weekend where she tallied 62 kills on a .377 hitting percentage over two matches that led her to being named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week. Through one weekend of action, the senior leads the country in kills per set (6.89) and points per set (7.94). 
  • Toney broke ACU's DI record for kills and points in a match with 33 kills and 37.5 points in Friday night's win over UT Arlington.
  • Madison Rohre broke a record on the weekend as well with 59 assists against UTA for a new DI record for assists in a match. 
  • The Wildcats had three players make their debuts last weekend. Madison Lawler started both matches at libero, Jada Birkel was on the right side and freshman Bryley Steinhilber saw her first collegiate action. 
  • Birkel and Lawler both made immediate impacts for the Wildcats. Lawler averaged 4.33 digs per set while Birkel totaled 33 kills on a .273 hitting percentage through two matches.

SCOUTING THE RED RAIDERS

  • Texas Tech opened their season going 2-1 in Knoxville, Tenn. as part of the Tennessee Classic Tournament. 
  • Kenna Sauer and Reagan Cooper led the way with 22 kills each on the weekend. 
  • The Red Raiders return five starters from last season's team that went 9-13 and 5-11 in Big 12 play but also brought in seven newcomers. 
  • There were 16 different players who saw action for TTU in their first weekend of play. Five of those players played in at least 10 of their 11 total sets.
