Donelle Johnson named second team all-conference

FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference announced their all-conference teams for the 2021 softball season today with the Wildcats placing Donelle Johnson on the second team. The Wildcats have won four-straight and clinched the eight-seed with a dramatic comeback on Saturday afternoon with Johnson being a big part of that win. The team is on the road and will play their first game in the tournament at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon against Southeastern Louisiana.

Second Team All-Conference

Leads team with .356 batting average and .567 slugging percentage
Appeared in 41 games with 31 starts, coming back from a broken hand at the beginning of the season
Totaled four homeruns and nine doubles
Led the team with 24 runs scored
Had a .983 fielding percentage

I’m so proud of Don for her hard work and accomplishments this year. She fought so hard to be in the position she was in this year and to really contribute to our success. Watching her battle back from a broken hand at the start of the season was really inspiring. Don has had a great year offensively and defensively. She turned into a great spark for our lineup as our lead off.
