Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

ACU starts 3-0 for fifth straight season

ABILENE – Tatum Barber scored a team-high 16 points, 16 three-pointers were made, and the ACU women's basketball team got win number three on the young season with an 88-53 victory over the Angelo State Rambelles at the Teague Center. Four players scored in double figures and after trailing by five points early on, ACU got going and never trailed again on their way to a fifth-straight 3-0 start. The 'Cats led by as many as 39 and moved hit at least three triples in every quarter. In the annual Kids' Game, over 650 elementary kids from different schools around Abilene packed the Teague Center and made a lot of noise all game long. It was the first Kids' Game in two seasons after last year's was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Turning Point: The 7-0 run to grab the lead in the first quarter.
ACU trailed 5-0 right out of the gate Wednesday, but a 7-0 run ended any thoughts of upset for Angelo State. Barber scored the first points for ACU on a mid-range jumper, and freshman Bella Earle backed it up with a layup to cut it to one, 5-4. The lead came on a Barber three-pointer, and ACU grabbed its first and only lead, and would never trail again.
