HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Freshman
Chayse Thorn scored her team-leading third goal of the season, but the second-half comeback fell just short for the Abilene Christian soccer team at Sam Houston on Sunday. The Wildcats (4-6-1, 2-2-1 WAC) trailed 2-0 at halftime, and with just over five minutes remaining, Thorn put one in the net, but then ACU just ran out of time, falling 2-1. ACU still sits with seven points in the WAC standings heading into next week.
The Goals
- 9' |Â Sam Houston's Lexi Primacio scored her first goal of the season.
- 11' | The Bearkats made it 2-0 after the third goal of the year for Landri Townsend.
- 84' | Thorn took the ball on the left side, drove down, and put one to the right corner of the net for the score.
The NumbersÂ
- ACU held the ball the most of the game, leading 26-9 in shot attempts and 11-5 in shots on goal.

Lily Foster recorded three saves in net, giving her 58 for the season.
- Thorn and
Nicole Barham each led the way with four shot attempts; Thorn put three on frame.

Christina Arteaga and
Jordan Michie each recorded three shots, while
Natalie Jones,
Alyssia Anuat,
Grace Ornelas, and
Caylen Wright each added two.
Up NextÂ
- The Wildcats head way up north to the Windy City next Saturday, Oct. 16 to take on Chicago State in Illinois. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. and is the only game of the weekend for the team.
