NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The offenses were filled with shot attempts Sunday afternoon at the SFA Soccer Field, but the goals were hard to come by as two Southland Conference schools got together for a non-conference match to close out the opening weekend. Both teams picked up a goal in the first half, and the defenses fought it out til the very end as ACU and SFA picked up a 1-1 tie. The Wildcats (0-1-1) still have yet to lost to SFA since 2016, spanning six matches in that time.
The Goals
- 22' | After a foul on ACU in the box, SFA's Katelyn Termini took a penalty kick and scored to put the Ladyjacks up 1-0.
- 38' | SFA allowed an own goal to tie the game, 1-1.
The Numbers
- McAleer scores her first career goal in odd fashion, and it is also ACU's first goal of the season.
- ACU outshot SFA 23-21, but both teams tied with seven shots apiece on goal.

Christina Arteaga tallied eight shot attempts, placing one on frame.
- Sophomore
Natalie Jones recorded five shots, while
Emily Heidman tallied four.

Erin Smith recovered brilliantly after the early goal, recording six saves and keeping the game tied through 110 minutes of play.

"I liked the way we bounced back after Friday night. We had an unfortunate penalty kick in the first half, but we had multiple good looks today to put some balls away. It is just the second game and we are liking the progression and how some of the players are developing quickly."
