ACU STORYLINES
  • LAST-SECOND FREE THROWS DOWNS ACU: Breanna Wright tied the game against the UIW Cardinals with 16.6 seconds to play in regulation, hitting a deep NBA-style three-pointer to even the game at 70 apiece. However, the the visitors would draw a foul on Alyssa Adams with just one second remaining, and Imani Robinson hit one of two free throws to win it for Incarnate Word. Makayla Mabry's last-second heave from near half-court was off the mark, and UIW topped ACU 71-70 in Moody Coliseum.
  • BIG DEFICIT TOO MUCH IN LOSS AT SFA: ACU got down by as many as 21 points with 1:20 to play in third quarter at Stephen F. Austin, and despite an 18-3 run from that point forward, the Wildcats fell 69-59. It is the first loss of the season for ACU in a game decided by 10 points or less, and it halts a three-game winning streak.
  • DOUBLE THE DOUBLE-DOUBLES: ACU had two players record a double-double in the loss to UIW; Alyssa Adams had the third of her career with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Breanna Wright did it for the first time ever with 22 points and 10 assists.
  • FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: It was the first double-double in the brilliant career of Brea Wright; the senior did it in style with a career-best 10 assists as well. The previous career-high in helpers was eight, doing it eight times. But Saturday, Wright was key in every way offensively. The Jarrell native hit clutch shot after clutch shot, including the NBA three-pointer to tie it with 16 seconds left.
  • OFFENSIVE SUCCESS: The team ranks seventh in the country in scoring at 82.2 points per game, and the +22.1 scoring margin per game ranks ninth in all of women's college basketball as well. The 49.0% shooting from the field ranks third in America, and the 10.5 three-point field goals made per game rank third in the nation as well.
  • I CAN DISH IT OUT AND TAKE IT: ACU is 19th in the nation in assists per game (17.5), 61st in assist/turnover ratio (1.1), and 13th in steals per game (11.7).
  • MID-MAJOR POLL: ACU checks in at No. 15 in the latest Mid Major Poll, moving up a spot from the previous week. The Wildcats were ranked No. 11 three weeks ago, the highest the team had ever been. The 'Cats have earned key road victories this season. The team topped then-No. 16 Wright State on Nov. 15, won at Portland on Nov. 29, who was receiving votes, and just beat a 13-win Sam Houston State team. ACU has been ranked 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 21 this season.
