ABILENE -- Abilene Christian improved to 5-7 on the season and 5-1 all-time vs. Southeastern Louisiana following Friday's 5-2 win over the Lady Lions on the outdoor courts of the Eager Tennis Center.
The Wildcats, who play host to McNeese Sunday at 10 a.m., won four singles competitions in addition to the doubles point. Freshman
Claire Fisher and sophomore
Allison Stewart made fairly quick work of Katya Cornejo and Teodora Mitrovic to be first ones off the court, and then the No. 1s
Sarah Adams and
Nini Memishishi overcame a small deficit to edge Putri Insani and Ximena Yanez, 6-4.
No. 2s
Ileana Mocciola and
Sylvia Viljoen were leading Flory Bierma and Kim Bohlen, 5-4, when the doubles point was clinched.
ACU soon moved its lead to 3-0 following straight-set wins from Fisher at No. 6 and Memishishi at No. 2. Fisher dominated Bohlen, 6-1, 6-0, and Memishishi dug out of a hole in the second set to win, 6-1, 7-5.
SLU pulled itself back into the match with wins at No. 5 and 1, but Stewart came through with the match-clinching point at No. 3, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0, over Polina Slepstova, and for good measure freshman
Andrea Guerrero held back Ximena Yanez, 6-4, 3-6, 11-9.
