Wildcats return to Abilene to host Dallas Christian

ABILENE, Texas - ACU returns to the Teague Center on Tuesday night for the final game of their non-conference schedule. The team is coming off a tough loss at Arkansas where they were unable to overcome a slow start, despite putting together a solid second half. The Wildcats are now 7-2 and will look to improve to 8-2 with a win over Dallas Christian tomorrow evening. The Crusaders come into Tuesday's game with 13 games under their belts with all but three of those games being exhibition contests for their team.

SERIES HISTORY

The teams first met in the 2002-03 and have played a total of seven games with ACU holding the 7-0 record in those meetings. The teams last met on Dec. 7, 2019 when ACU earned the dominant 102-34 win. 

ACU STORYLINES

  • Clay Gayman is coming off of a season-high 18 points at Arkansas where he went 6-9 from the floor and 4-7 from range. 
  • Once again the Wildcats had a balanced scoring effort with four different players scoring in double figures at Arkansas and eight total players scoring. 
  • The Wildcats remain one of the top defensive teams in the country. They currently rank 19th in scoring defense (59.0), 23rd in three-point FG percentage defense (26.8), third in turnovers forced (22.67), 10th in steals per game (10.1), and eighth in turnover margin (+7.8). 
  • ACU's 7-2 mark in non-conference play is their best start since going 11-2 in the 2018-19 season.

SCOUTING DALLAS CHRISTIAN

  • The Crusaders are 2-1 in non-exhibition games on the season but have gone 0-10 in their exhibition contests.
  • The Wildcats will be the third Southland Conference opponent DCC has faced this season. They fell 140-37 against McNeese and dropped a contest at Sam Houston 117-42. 
  • Dallas Christian is averaging 91 points per game in their official contests and have two players averaging double figures. 
  • The Crusaders are in the midst of a five-game road swing and will head to UTRGV after their game in Abilene.
